02The experience

What makes Mobile Camping Experience unforgettable.

Following the Great Migration Step 1

Following the Great Migration

The primary, undeniable reason to choose a Mobile Camping Safari in Tanzania is the Great Wildebeest Migration. The migration is not a static event; it is a fluid, continuous cycle driven by unpredictable rainfall. Over two million animals are constantly on the move across the vast expanse of the Serengeti ecosystem.

Permanent lodges, restricted by their foundations, can only offer prime migration viewing for a few months of the year when the herds happen to pass by. A mobile camp, however, is dynamic. We position our camps strategically to anticipate the herds' movements.

The Definition of Glamping: Comfort in the Wild Step 2

The Definition of Glamping: Comfort in the Wild

The term "camping" often conjures images of cramped dome tents, uncomfortable sleeping mats, and cold baked beans. A Ngomi Adventures Mobile Camping Safari could not be further from this reality. This is "glamping" (glamorous camping) in its truest form.

The Tents: You sleep in massive, walk-in canvas tents that evoke the golden age of Hemingway’s safaris. These tents are spacious enough to stand up in and move around comfortably. They feature proper, heavy-duty beds (either king or twin configurations) with high-quality mattresses, crisp cotton linens, and warm duvets for the chilly highland nights.

Absolute Exclusivity and Privacy Step 3

Absolute Exclusivity and Privacy

One of the greatest luxuries of a Mobile Camping Safari is privacy. When you stay at a permanent lodge, you are sharing the dining room, the lounge, and the overall atmosphere with dozens, sometimes hundreds, of other guests.

Our mobile camps are typically set up in "Special Campsites." These are designated areas within the national parks that are strictly reserved for private use. You will not see another safari company or other tourists within your camp area. It is entirely exclusive to your party. This means the schedule is entirely your own. You can dine whenever you wish, sit around the campfire late into the night discussing the day's sightings without worrying about disturbing other guests, and enjoy the profound, absolute silence of the African bush.

A Deeper Connection with the Environment Step 4

A Deeper Connection with the Environment

Sleeping under canvas fundamentally alters your connection to the wilderness. The canvas walls provide a visual barrier, but they do not block the sounds or smells of the bush.

The sensory experience of a night in a mobile camp is unforgettable. You will fall asleep to the distant, rhythmic whooping of hyenas, the sharp alarm bark of a baboon, or the deep, guttural roar of a lion asserting its territory. You might hear the soft tearing of grass right outside your tent as a zebra grazes in the moonlight. While you are perfectly safe inside your tent (which is zipped tight, and the camp is guarded by Maasai askaris), this proximity to nature provides an exhilarating thrill that simply cannot be replicated behind the brick-and-glass walls of a traditional hotel room.

The Ultimate bespoke Adventure Step 5

The Ultimate bespoke Adventure

A Mobile Camping Safari requires a slightly higher budget than a standard lodge safari because of the massive logistical effort required to move a dedicated crew, equipment, and fresh food into remote areas exclusively for your group. However, for families wanting an incredible bonding experience, for groups of friends seeking a private adventure, or for photographers needing to be as close to the action as possible, it represents the absolute pinnacle of Tanzanian travel.

We seamlessly blend the mobile experience with the rest of your itinerary. A highly popular route involves spending the first few nights in a comfortable permanent lodge in Tarangire or Ngorongoro to acclimatize to the bush, before heading deep into the Serengeti for 3 to 4 nights in your private mobile camp to track the migration, and finishing with a relaxing stay on the beaches of Zanzibar.

An invitation to reconnect with nature in its purest, most undiluted form.
