Cookie Policy.

Ngomi Adventures uses a small number of cookies on this website. This page explains what they are, what they do, and how you can control them. We do not use cookies to track you across the internet, sell your data to third parties, or serve you advertising. We use them because they make this website work properly and help us understand, in aggregate, how people find us.

A plain-language explanation.

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — your computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They are not programs and cannot carry viruses. They cannot access other files on your device or read information from other websites you have visited.

When you return to a website, it can read the cookies it previously set. This allows the site to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, or understand which pages you visited in a previous session. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies). Others remain on your device for a defined period (persistent cookies).

Cookies are set either by the website you are visiting (first-party cookies) or by third-party services embedded in that website — for example, an analytics tool or an embedded map. We describe both types below.

What we set and why.

We keep our cookie use to a minimum. Below is a complete list of the cookies present on ngomiadventures.com, what each one does, and how long it lasts.

Strictly necessary cookies These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take — such as filling in our enquiry form, setting your cookie preferences, or navigating between pages. They do not store any personally identifiable information and do not require your consent under applicable law. Without these cookies, parts of the site will not work.
WordPress session cookies This website runs on WordPress. WordPress sets a small number of session cookies to manage page delivery and security — including wordpress_test_cookie, which simply checks that your browser accepts cookies, and wp-settings cookies that store interface preferences. These are first-party cookies, expire at the end of your session or within 12 months, and contain no personal data.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use this website — which pages are read, how long people spend on them, and which countries our visitors come from. This information is aggregated and anonymous: we cannot identify individual visitors from Google Analytics data. The cookies set are _ga (expires after 2 years) and _ga_[ID] (expires after 2 years). You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Enquiry form cookies When you use our contact or journey planning form, a short-lived session cookie is set to prevent duplicate submissions and protect the form against automated spam. This cookie expires when you close your browser and contains no personal data beyond a randomised session token.
Cookie consent cookie When you interact with our cookie consent banner, we set a cookie to remember your choice so we do not ask you again on every visit. This cookie is called ngomi_cookie_consent, is first-party, and expires after 12 months. It stores only your consent preference — accepted or declined — and no other information.
Cookies we do not use We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not use cookies from Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or any other advertising network. We do not sell, rent, or share cookie data with third parties for commercial purposes. We do not use cookies to build profiles of individual users or track you across other websites.

Services that may set their own cookies.

Some functionality on this website is provided by third-party services. Where these services are embedded — for example, an interactive map or a video — they may set their own cookies independently of Ngomi Adventures. We do not control these cookies and they are governed by the privacy policies of the respective services.

Maps
Google Maps
Embedded itinerary maps

Where we embed Google Maps to illustrate safari routes or park locations, Google may set cookies on your device. Google's cookie policy applies. You can opt out via your Google account settings.

Analytics

Aggregated usage data

GA4 collects anonymised data about how this site is used. No personal data is shared with Ngomi Adventures through this service. Opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Performance
WP Rocket
Page caching & speed

This website uses WP Rocket for performance caching. WP Rocket may set a cookie to serve cached versions of pages efficiently. No personal data is collected.

How to control cookies.

You have several options for managing cookies. None of them require you to contact us.

Option 1

Use our consent banner.

When you first visit ngomiadventures.com, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can accept all cookies, decline non-essential cookies, or adjust your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie settings" link in the page footer. Your choice is remembered for 12 months via the ngomi_cookie_consent cookie.

Option 2

Adjust your browser settings.

All major browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings menus. You can block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies already stored on your device. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of this website from working correctly. Instructions for the most common browsers are available at: support.google.com/chrome · support.mozilla.org · support.apple.com · support.microsoft.com

Option 3

Opt out of Google Analytics.

Google provides a browser add-on that prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits across any website that uses it. Download it at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This works across all websites using Google Analytics, not just ours.

Data protection and your rights.

Where cookies process personal data — for example, an IP address — that processing is governed by our Privacy Policy and by applicable data protection law, including the Tanzania Personal Data Protection Act and, where applicable to our international visitors, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018.

Legal basis for analytics cookies We rely on your consent as the legal basis for setting analytics cookies (Google Analytics). You can withdraw this consent at any time using the methods described in Section 04 above. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.
Legal basis for necessary cookies Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of legitimate interest — specifically, our interest in delivering a functioning website to you. These do not require consent and cannot be refused without preventing the website from working.
Your right to access You have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, including data collected via cookies. To make a subject access request, write to us at info@ngomiadventures.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Your right to erasure You have the right to request that we delete personal data we hold about you. You can delete cookies already stored on your device directly through your browser at any time. For any other personal data held by Ngomi Adventures, contact us at info@ngomiadventures.com.
Questions and complaints If you have questions about how we use cookies or handle personal data, please contact us at info@ngomiadventures.com. If you are an EU or UK resident and believe we are not handling your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — the ICO in the UK (ico.org.uk) or your relevant EU data protection authority.

When this policy changes.

We review this Cookie Policy periodically and update it whenever our cookie use changes or when relevant law requires it. The date at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes — for example, adding a new third-party service that sets cookies — we will notify visitors via the cookie consent banner on their next visit.

We encourage you to check this page occasionally if cookie use matters to you. Continued use of ngomiadventures.com after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, subject to any consent requirements that apply to non-essential cookies.
