Serengeti National Park
The world's most famous wildlife arena. Two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle cross its endless plains in the greatest animal migration on earth. Year-round big cat action, balloon safaris at dawn, sundowners on the Mara.

Ngorongoro Crater
The world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera — home to roughly 25,000 animals in a 260-square-kilometre natural amphitheatre. One of the last places on earth to reliably see black rhino in the wild.

Ancient baobab trees and the largest elephant concentration in Tanzania. The Tarangire River draws vast herds during the dry season — 300-strong elephant families, tree-climbing lions, and over 550 bird species.

Lake Manyara
A compact jewel at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Famous for tree-climbing lions, flamingo flocks on the alkaline lake, and dense groundwater forest. An ideal half-day stop between Tarangire and Ngorongoro.

The quiet
wild.
Ruaha and Nyerere together make up nearly a third of Tanzania's protected land, with a fraction of the vehicles. Bigger elephant herds, longer walks, entire afternoons where you will not see another vehicle.

Tanzania's largest park. Biggest elephant herds in Africa, large lion and leopard populations, wild dogs, and 570+ bird species. The Great Ruaha River draws everything in the dry season.

Formerly the Selous — Africa's largest game reserve. The Rufiji River winds through borassus palms and open floodplains. Boat safaris, walking with armed rangers, fly-camping under canvas.

The most accessible southern park, at the gateway to the Udzungwa Mountains. Excellent lion sightings in the Mkata floodplain — a useful starting point for longer southern circuits.

Tanzania's most remote park — small-plane access, no mobile signal, and concentrations of hippo and crocodile along the Katuma River that are among the most extraordinary spectacles in Africa.

The forested
frontier.
Tanzania's most overlooked circuit — the forested shore of Lake Tanganyika, where chimpanzees still live undisturbed. Small-plane access, boat arrivals, and a completely different safari: hushed, green, on foot, looking upward.
Mahale Mountains
No roads. No vehicles. Access by boat across Lake Tanganyika, then on foot into the forest. Home to one of the world's best-habituated chimpanzee communities — tracked daily, at close range.

The smallest national park in Tanzania — and the site of Jane Goodall's chimpanzee research since 1960. A forest park on Lake Tanganyika, reached only by boat. Quieter than Mahale and utterly intimate.

Tanzania holds the highest point on the African continent. Both mountains can be combined with a safari before or after — and both change the way you see the country from the vehicle on the way back down.
Mount Kilimanjaro
The roof of Africa — 5,895 metres, six routes, and the most recognisable mountain silhouette on the continent. Every Ngomi Kilimanjaro climb uses KPAP-audited porters, KINAPA-licensed senior guides, and an extra acclimatisation day when the schedule allows.

Mount Meru
Tanzania's second-highest peak at 4,562 metres — consistently underrated and consistently excellent. The crater rim walk is more dramatic than anything on Kilimanjaro's upper slopes, and the views of Kili from the summit on a clear morning are worth the entire climb.
