Within a day's drive of Arusha, four world-class parks offer the densest, most varied wildlife viewing on the continent. From the endless Serengeti plains to the volcanic amphitheatre of Ngorongoro, from Tarangire's ancient baobab forests to the flamingo-fringed shores of Lake Manyara, this circuit delivers the Africa most travellers dream of.

Serengeti National Park

The world's most famous wildlife arena. Two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle cross its endless plains in the greatest animal migration on Earth. Year-round big cat action, balloon safaris at dawn, and sundowners overlooking the Mara River.

Ngorongoro Crater

The world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera, home to roughly 25,000 animals in a 260-square-kilometre natural amphitheatre. One of the last places to see black rhino in the wild. The floor contains lakes, forests, and open grassland.

Jul — OctElephant herds

Tarangire National Park

Ancient baobab trees and the largest elephant concentration in Tanzania. The Tarangire River draws vast herds during the dry season — 300-strong elephant families, tree-climbing lions, and over 550 bird species.

Jun — OctFlamingos

Lake Manyara National Park

A compact jewel at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Famous for tree-climbing lions, vast flocks of flamingos on the alkaline lake, and dense groundwater forest. An ideal half-day stop between Tarangire and Ngorongoro.
